A women undergoing ResurFx lser skin resurfacing treatment - Laser Resurfacing - Lake Charles LA - Dermatology Associates SWLA

ResurFX

Fractional non-ablative laser skin resurfacing is an effective anti-aging treatment that provides overall skin rejuvenation without causing injury to the top layer of skin with minimal downtime.  Lumenis ResurFX laser is non-ablative technology and uses an advanced scanner, which enables more than 600 combinations of shape, size and density for optimal treatment results.  ResurFX only requires one pass, unlike other fractional lasers requiring multiple passes, which increases time, discomfort and risk for excess injury to the skin.

Several micro-columns of heat energy are delivered into the skin without ablating or cutting the surface of the skin.  This causes the skin to repair itself by removing damaged skin cells, breaking down scar tissue and stimulating new collagen and healthy skin cells.  This results in smoother, tighter, more even skin, giving a youthful appearance.  Typically, 3-5 treatments about one month apart are necessary to obtain optimum results, although this varies by the individual and their goal.

ResurFX treats:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne and surgical scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Signs of sun damage
  • Some forms of hyperpigmentation
  • Textural irregularities

What to expect:

Redness and swelling occurs immediately after treatment and typically resolve within 24-48 hours.  Your skin will then develop a bronzing appearance that will last 1-2 days.  Then you will naturally exfoliate as new skin replaces dead tissue.

Contraindications:

Sun exposure for 2-4 weeks before and after treatment.  Active fever blisters.  Accutane within last 6 months.  Inflammatory skin conditions at treatment site.  History of keloids.  Pregnancy.  Easy bruising.

Provider will go over post treatment instructions on how to care for skin.
